Alaya –Wales

We urgently need a foster home offer for this lovely Huskamute girl, who is at risk of PTS through no fault of her own. This beautiful Husky/Mal X girl is 3 yrs old. She is not yet neutered, but this will be done when she comes into rescue. She is vaccinated and wormed. She is currently living outside, in pretty awful conditions, due to some very tragic circumstances. The owner’s partner died two years ago at a very young age, due to a fatal accident at work. Alaya is currently living with 6 kids of varying ages. Understandably, the owner does not have time to devote to this beautiful dog, so we need to find an experienced, patient and loving foster home *urgently*. She is not cat-tested. We will update details and pics as soon as we can. Please get in touch with us at or contact Bernadette Calladine at Wonky Pets Rescue on Facebook at

Meko – KC reg Alaskan Malamute - 10 month old boy

Meko is a beautiful 10 month old KC-reg Alaskan Malamute boy. He hasn’t had the best start to life – he was rehomed by his original owners over a month ago. He is not neutered due to his age (this will be done on him coming into rescue), and he has had very little training.
He is learning basic training, but this will be a long term process. He is very food motivated and will sit for a treat. He does jump up and can be boisterous with his energy, so we think a house with no young children is a must. Ideally he will be an only dog, as he is nervous around other dogs. Meko is often happy to lie down and chill out, with people he knows, but wants to play with new people and needs to be taught appropriate boundaries for play, due to his energy and size. We think he may suffer from separation anxiety and has chewed when he has been left for long periods. He has not displayed any food aggression at all, and is very gentle at taking food. He has met lots of people in his local pub, who have been charmed.
He does not like cats. He is not well-socialized with other dogs and is wary of meeting them, although he is open to encounters. If another dog displays aggression, he will be defensive but has not bitten or attacked. He has lived with children and by all accounts has been gentle with them, but due to his lack of training and bounciness, we think that only older dog-savvy children will be appropriate for this chap’s home. Meko does pull on the lead for the first few minutes, but then will settle. He does seem to react better to women, but again we think this may be overcome by a patient experienced male owner. He is fully vaccinated. If you can offer Meko the experienced home he needs, please get in touch with us at if you can help, or with Saints Sled Dog Rescue at

On the 11th of September 2014 a terrible fire swept through Manchester Dogs Home. Over 50 dogs lost their lives and many more lost their home and required medical care.
In the days that followed a few rescue workers pulled together to help raise funds and collect items to aid the home and the surviving dogs in need.
The rescues on this poster have joined together and designed a wristband that would remember the event and lives lost. All funds from the bands will be donated to Manchester Dogs Home to show our support.
Malamute Matters have a stock of these bands and will be available at various shows we attend. Bands are £1 each. If you would like to order one then it will be £1 + 75p for p&p. To order from us please contact

Meet Buddy, our SSDR dog of the week! Buddy is a 4 year old male Siberian Husky. Buddy gets along with all the other dogs he has met. Currently not cat tested but we would say no to small furries as he seems to have an interest in pigeons! Ideal for an older child home as he loves the small humans but is a very bouncy boy. Chipped, neutered and up to date with his vaccinations, Buddy is currently located in Reading – England. So if you fit the bill for Buddy, please contact a Saints coordinator on or check out their web

Malamute Matters.. the story from the begining

After the terrible events at Manchester Dog Home a few rescue workers decided that some good must come of this tragedy. Well the ball is now rolling. We have banded together, multiple rescues some of which have never previously worked together to start a campaign highlighting how important rescue work is. What we have begun is hopefully the start of something big. As always we are relying on you guys, our supporters to once again help us help them. We will be announcing a few up and coming things that will be happening including a special charity bracelet from all the rescues combined with all proceeds going directly to Manchester Dogs Home. If you, or if you know of anyone involved in rescue work be it small private rescue, animal transporters, boarding kennels, pounds, shelters, dog related shops and businesses then please please please get in touch through Facebook or email us on let’s be a part of something huge. The more people involved the better. Thank woo

This past February, Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue took in seven Alaskan Malamutes from a voluntary breeder release to rescue. The dogs were transported to Houston where they were boarded and received much needed veterinary care. There were 6 females and 1 male aged adult to senior. Sadly the oldest female had serious medical issues and crossed the bridge not too long after intake. The costs for the 7 malamutes were TEXAS size big! We did a few fundraisers to help raise funds but we could not have pulled this off without the significant resources several organizations gave us along with public donations. We would like to acknowledge them tonight and in addition give an update on the dogs.

*Ciena, Silver and Spirit have been ADOPTED!

*Timber, the only male, and Tacoma were transferred to Golden Years Alaskan Malamute Rescue and are still available. Timber may have a visitor coming in the next couple weeks to meet him. Paws crossed!

*Star is still with us and needs a special needs home. She has no socialization and is terrified of people but does well with other dogs. Please contact us if you may be interested in fostering Star. There is an album of Star pictures located in the photo section on the Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue Facebook page
