Malamute Matters.. the story from the begining

***SPECIAL RESCUE POST***
After the terrible events at Manchester Dog Home a few rescue workers decided that some good must come of this tragedy. Well the ball is now rolling. We have banded together, multiple rescues some of which have never previously worked together to start a campaign highlighting how important rescue work is. What we have begun is hopefully the start of something big. As always we are relying on you guys, our supporters to once again help us help them. We will be announcing a few up and coming things that will be happening including a special charity bracelet from all the rescues combined with all proceeds going directly to Manchester Dogs Home. If you, or if you know of anyone involved in rescue work be it small private rescue, animal transporters, boarding kennels, pounds, shelters, dog related shops and businesses then please please please get in touch through Facebook or email us on mmrescue@hotmail.com let’s be a part of something huge. The more people involved the better. Thank woo

GREAT GREAT NEWS!!!

This past February, Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue took in seven Alaskan Malamutes from a voluntary breeder release to rescue. The dogs were transported to Houston where they were boarded and received much needed veterinary care. There were 6 females and 1 male aged adult to senior. Sadly the oldest female had serious medical issues and crossed the bridge not too long after intake. The costs for the 7 malamutes were TEXAS size big! We did a few fundraisers to help raise funds but we could not have pulled this off without the significant resources several organizations gave us along with public donations. We would like to acknowledge them tonight and in addition give an update on the dogs.

*Ciena, Silver and Spirit have been ADOPTED!

*Timber, the only male, and Tacoma were transferred to Golden Years Alaskan Malamute Rescue and are still available. Timber may have a visitor coming in the next couple weeks to meet him. Paws crossed!

*Star is still with us and needs a special needs home. She has no socialization and is terrified of people but does well with other dogs. Please contact us if you may be interested in fostering Star. There is an album of Star pictures located in the photo section on the Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue Facebook page

URGENT PLEAAlita was just 12 weeks old when she was pulled her from a local shelter. She went into the shelter wearing a diaper because she leaked. We knew that there was a possibility that we would need to do the ectopic ureter surgery but had high hopes that herbal supplements would work. Sadly, they didn’t. We consulted with a specialist that confirmed that Alita did need the expensive surgery (~$4,000), we did not expect post surgical complications and the possibility of another surgery for our little girl. Sadly, she is hospitalized again (an additional ~$2,000) and we just made the decision to have tubes inserted and drain into external bags with hospitalization for up to 5 days to reduce swelling and dilation. This will hopefully save her kidney and allow correct function of both kidneys and the bladder (~$4500). All this before she is even 6 months old. She is just a baby and deserves a chance to continue to be the happy puppy she is. Please help us help her and consider donation. Also, please remember to check with your companies to see if they match any donations! malamutematterspayments@gmail.com using friends and family… ALITA

****RESCUE POST****Urgent Foster/Home AppealMika - Bedfordshire
Mika is a stunningly beautiful, 10 year old pedigree (KC reg) Alaskan Mal girl, currently in Norwich but moving into an emergency foster in Bedfordshire. She is great with kids (has lived with them) and dogs, but not cats. She is neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and chipped. She is fully insured, and we are informed has no health problems with a full no claims history on the insurance. Sadly, her owner’s health issues and a forced moved mean Mika needs a new home, as she can no longer be accommodated. Saints Sled Dog Rescue are kindly offering rescue back up, but we need a long term foster. If you can help, please get in touch (ref: Mika) at mmrescue@hotmail.com or Saints at info@saintssleddogrescue.co.uk.
